Last week we hosted the excellent Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art for a research workshop at Imagination with Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Art. In a pecha kucha style presentation we spoke about our research. (See deck)
My research question considers if it is possible to situate the design and making process as an experience to be consumed in itself (think spectacle and performance). I like to think that my research was motivated by my childhood reading of Roald Dahl in which I realised that the processes of making in Willy Wonka’s factory were more interesting than the chocolates could ever be. Really though, I just want a legitimate reason to wear a top hat.
